It's been a week of fun with our San Diego Unschoolers tribe. We are so very fortunate to have such a large group of unschoolers in the San Diego area. And, I have much gratitude for the special friendships we've developed from it. Despite all the rain that we've been having, we've managed to get together a few times. A Holiday Cookie exchange party, fun times at the bowling alley, and a Raw Foods and Fun Times get together at our friend Ginger's house. (Some of the linked flickr sets are set to friends and family, so if you'd like to see them all, please email me)
We had a cozy, full house in our home on Saturday when I invited some of our friends over for a cookie exchange, food, and games. We even had friends as far away as L.A. and Menifee come and join the fun times.
Violet organized a game of Snowball, which the kids all really enjoyed a lot! They each put three facts about themselves on a piece of paper, crumpled it up, and had a SNOWBALL fight!!! They then read each other's papers and tried to figure out who wrote it. It was especially fun since the little ones also participated, with a little help from the older kids and parents.
They enjoyed some pinball, air hockey in the "barn", and a reindeer relay race outdoors in the dark and under a light sprinkle of rain!
Monday, it poured during our scheduled park day, so we ended up at a bowling alley where Livie proceeded to kick mine and Violet's butts! Go Livie!
Livie even got a strike!
My little thrill seeker also enjoyed a motorcycle ride while there, (of the virtual kind, of course!)
Thursday, we enjoyed, once again, getting together. This time to create some raw food recipes that Ginger provided. We made some delicious desserts all with raw food ingredients, no cooking, only using food a processor, dehydrater and a blender. (email me if you'd like the recipes)
I brought home some pumpkin cheesecake, as well as some samples of other goodies like gingerbread cookies, apple pies, almond halva, cinnamon girls, chocolate freezer fudge, and macaroons. Yum!
The kids of course, had lot of fun playing together. I caught this cute one of them doing a dogpile in the back room. Crazy kids! LOL
It was so special to get to enjoy so many fun times with our friends this last week. My favorite moments were seeing the kids giggling and enjoying themselves and each other. Those special in between moments when you'd connect with someone as you talked about your life, your experiences, your children. Seeing friends from afar that I don't get to see as frequently, but who are frequently in my heart. Learning something new that will potentially affect my future in a positive manner. Sharing things learned, experiences that may benefit someone else.
I hope you all have wonderful times creating memorable moments with family and loved ones this holiday season (& always)!
