I saw this little guy at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas this weekend while we were there for a friend's birthday party. He wasn't available for adoption, just visiting with his owner, but isn't he a cutie? He's my next favorite shot after the one of Olivia below for BSM (Best Shot Monday). Violet fell in love with a little guy named Poppy. And has been carrying his picture around and begging for us to go back for him. We'll see....

It was a really fun day. The kids all brought donations for the shelter, made doggy treats, toured the shelter, learned about caring for animals, and enjoyed some snacks and cupcakes afterwards. It was a beautiful sunny California day, it was about 85 at home when we left the house, so the coast was a bit cooler and more bearable. Here's a few pics of the kids enjoying their day.
They all really enjoyed the frosting on the gigantic cupcakes that were served.
I especially like this one of Olivia and her little friend Juliet. Ying and Yang. Livie in her black NHRA shirt and skeleton shoes and Juliet in her pretty, flowery outfit. Opposites in some ways yet they get along so well and are best of friends.
They were watching the dogs play in the play area with their owners.
They made doggy treats for the shelter dogs, as well as bringing some home for our pets.
It was made of doggie biscuits, a bacon treat, and peanut butter. You then freeze it, so that the dog has to work on it and it keeps him busy for awhile before eating it.
They toured the facility and learned about caring for your animal, and got to meet a few of the shelter animals.
And of course, Violet, always the ham for the camera.....glub, glub, glub. LOL She's so silly!
It was such a fun day and a wonderful idea for celebrating a birthday by donating to the animal shelter. Happy Birthday to our friend Little Pear. Hope you had as wonderful a time as we did.
Go visit Tracey at her blog for more best shots on this lovely Monday morning!
